BROIDERIE PERSE APPLIQUE QUILT, 1830s

Here is a great example of an early 1800's applique quilt that recently sold by Augusta Auctions for $5,500.

Cream cotton ground, divided into blocks by 3" wide red & brown florals & branches on cream, with various cut out chintz appliques of figures, florals or animals in red, green, blue & brown.

A wide 6.5" chintz frame around quilt depicts alternating garden flower posies & roosters at wooden gate.

Two of the blocks are signed in ink, "Fannie E. Wright" & "Eliza Bacon"

Hand quilted in parallel diagonal patterns, 95" x 95".
